ACNE SCARS

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT PLAN:

WHAT IS THE BEST SKIN TREATMENT FOR ACNE SCARS?

Micro needling is an excellent non surgical treatment for acne scars, hyperpigmentation, open pores and general skin texture. Expect some redness and flaking post treatment. Over the course of six treatments which are usually carried out monthly, you can see dramatic improvements in the condition of the skin.

Microneedling for Acne Scar Reduction

At Dublin Vitality Centre, acne scar reduction treatment invariably includes microneedling. However it may be suggested to you to start your course of microneedling with one treatment of microdermabrasion. This will reduce the amount of skin peeling experienced when you do begin your microneedling and thereby reduce downtime. It will also allow the microneedling to access the lower dermal layer faster, and so you will ultimately achieve quicker and better results.

Acne Scars and Hyperpigmentation

When we feel good about how we look, our confidence improves and so too the quality of life. The good news is that acne scars can be treated effectively and successfully without surgery. Micro needling comes under a variety of names. It may also be referred to as collagen induction therapy or skin needling. All of these are one and the same.

HOW DOES MICRO NEEDLING WORK TO REPAIR ACNE SCARS?

Micro needling is carried out over a course of 6 treatments which are normally between 4 -6 weeks apart. A device which consists of multiple high micro needles, penetrates into the skin rapidly, breakdown the scar tissue. This causes trauma to the skin cells. New skin cells are produced to fix the area. These new skin cells do not contain the damaged acne scar tissue. In effect, the skin is empowered to grow new cells over the course of 6 treatments.

Collagen Production

True. Acne scars fade with every treatment. But there is more good news too. The treatment produces collagen which results in younger looking skin, reduced pores and altogether a substantial improvement in the appearance of the face.

DOWNTIME AFTER MICRO NEEDLING?

Consider that there will be redness and peeling after micro needling treatments for acne scars. The severity of the healing depends on the sensitivity of the skin. Some people will have more redness than others. It is recommended to take Vitamin C as a supplement, and to apply the correct skin care product as suggested by your therapist during your appointment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS OF MICRO NEEDLING ARE RECOMMENDED?

For improvements in acne scars, consider a course of 6 treatments. This is the protocol on which studies and results recorded are based. There will be a gap of 6 weeks between treatments during which time the appropriate skincare routine should be followed. Sun protection is important. Long-term acne improvements require an all-inclusive, comprehensive acne fighting program that arrests fresh breakouts while healing the body from the inside. When this is done, sufferers may never develop acne. If further spots are appearing on the skin, consider an inner body cleanse such as liver coffee enemas or colonic hydrotherapy to remove toxins.
