The Colon is the main eliminatory organ in the body. It is approximately 5 ft in length.
The Kidneys, Skin, Lungs, Liver constantly send toxins to the colon
All toxins eventually end up in the colon
If no elimination occurs, toxins are re-absorbed by the body and circulate eventually attempting excretion via the skin (spots and skin conditions), the lungs (halitosis, bad breath) or by residing in the cells resulting in other conditions.
Constipation means less than 1 bowel movement per day
The digestive system showing the two main elimination organs of the body, the liver and the colon.
Because your body was never designed to deal with the level of toxins that it is now exposed to regularly. The most common toxins include:
Your body will try very hard to eliminate the most dangerous toxins first. That is why when you drink alcohol for example, you must urinate shortly afterwards. Your body is essentially trying to save you from poisoning itself. So it calls an emergency meeting with the other organs and directs all its focus on getting rid of the most toxic substance, in this case, the active ingredient in alcoholic beverages known as ethyl alcohol, also known as ethanol. It is a colorless and nearly tasteless liquid that is easily and quickly absorbed by the body and is, infact, highly poisonous. If your liver does not get rid of it immediately, you could die.
The body begins immediately to try to get rid of the alcohol out of the body via the liver and the liver must dump these toxins in the colon as quick as possible. In simple terms, the liver is given a “direct line” to the colon to remove the maximum amount of ethanol and the other elimination organs are given less of a priority. The body can afterall, only deal with so much at one time.
So What happens To All The Toxins In My Body?
Because the liver must perform most of the work of metabolizing the alcohol, it takes the greatest hit and therefore shows effects over time. Even in the moderate drinker, after some years of continuous low-grade dysfunction, the damaged liver cells are gradually replaced by scar tissue. Scar tissue on the liver is known as cirrhosis of the liver.
As the liver becomes damaged, its ability to metabolize alcohol is reduced. The liver begins to accumulate fats, and there is further malfunction. The risk of other diseases such as hepatitis is increased.
Your body tries to excrete them as best it can, with priority to the most harmful toxins first. So the secondary excretory organs, the lungs, the lympathic system, the digestive system must now deal with so many toxins themselves. They try to push the toxic matter out as best they can resulting in problems arising in other areas of the body. The lungs release toxins as bad breath, the digestive system develops food intolerances, the lymphatic system creates stress and soreness in the muscles.
Wrong, the colon can only cope with so much aswell. And after a while it becomes toxic too. This is where signs of toxicity in the colon become problematic.
Like pipes in your home your colon can build up a hard rim. In a similar way that plaque can develop on your teeth, your colon can develop a hard layer of impacted fecal matter which gathers around the rims. This is known as mucoid plaque.
Even though your body is evacuating waste every day, a residue is left on the sides.
This becomes harder and harder over time and results in a skin-like plaque material formed on the colon walls.
Ok it is not pretty but is it harmful?
It impedes peristaltic action. That’s the muscular action of the involuntary colon to move matter along. Resulting in constipation, bloating and impeding absorption of minerals.
Some of this toxic matter is absorbed leading to symptoms of toxicity ie fatigue, skin problems etc
During a colonic the following action helps loosen this matter by hydrating it with water. That is why colonic irrigation is often called colonic “hydrotherapy”.
-Walls of the colon are hydrated so impacted matter is loosened
-Liver is detoxed and hydrated releasing toxins back to colon
- Muscle of colon is exercised and becomes better at eliminating . Just like going to gym helps strengthen your voluntary muscles. Colonic help work the involuntary muscles of the colon.
